Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 until Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a small community located on the West Island, which is part of the Montreal island. The West Island has a lot of diverse communities. People who have never known about it may confuse it with a separate, west-facing island. The West Island is frequently referred to as the birthplace of Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay there was not long. Brugel grew in Courtice, just outside of Oshawa. She aspired to be a professional dancer but due to a rapid increase in her height, she outgrew the dance partners she had. According to an article in the Toronto Star, she revealed that she wore heels and was six feet and one inches tall. As soon as I outgrew the size of my male friends then I stopped. Bruce was among the former dancers that turned to acting. Her high school teacher school was what pushed her into the right direction. She was a teacher at the time who advised her to go after a role in the school's annual production. After a few auditions the role, she was chosen as the main character in Anne of Green Gables. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in the year 2000. Brugel's career spans over 20 years and she has been in over 60 productions including big screen productions and smaller ones. Her most recognizable role was the one of Rita (pictured in the below photo) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the sole Canadian in the Season 1 actors of the series as well as appearing only on occasion, was the only Canadian.
